I think what surprises me most about this first glimpse of the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street is how much it borrows from the original film.
If you look at other Platinum Dunes remakes, like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th, there isn’t really much that looks like an accurate interpretation of the original. This one–both in tone and visuals–really seems to be following the same idea.
They wisely keep Freddy pretty much under wraps for most of it (except for the flash to the origin story that opens the trailer), with only a brief glimpse at him at the end. And he’s kinda strange-looking. Something about his mouth is a little…fishy. (Pun intended, I think.)
Anyway, we’ve been waiting awhile to get a little something to watch from this flick and we’ve finally got it and it actually looks kinda cool. Take a look for yourself right below.

Looks awesome….something about Freddy’s voice at the end, though, rubbed me the wrong way. He sounded Lithuanian?

Yeah, when he says “You’ve got nothing to worry about” he kinda sounds like like the guy at the parking garage in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

i dunno… didnt even look burned. Also, i get the feeling we wont be seeing the gallons of blood we saw in the first film, which gave me nightmares all throughout my childhood.
