Maybe it should be a rule that a movie has to actually open before you can start planning its sequels. Sure, there are three Spider-Man movies in queue right now, but I believe that franchise has already proven its power. The Hangover, whose sequel was in the works before it was released, might have been a huge flop, and Sherlock Holmes might too.
Of course, it probably won’t, and that single “probably” is exactly why Warner Bros is giving the go-ahead for the second film in what they hoped to be a long-lasting franchise.
The studio is in talks with Kieran and Michele Mulroney, who wrote the ill-fated Justice League movie, to write the script, and The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Brad Pitt is a possibility to play Holmes’s nemesis in the film.
So, based on this, I guess it’s safe to assume that Sherlock Holmes a still alive at the end of this Christmas’s movie. I suppose I should’ve put a spoiler warning or something. My most sincere apologies.
