Hardwicke on Little Red Riding Hood flick

Posted on 21 August 2009 by HansKlopek

After getting bumped from the Twilight sequel, it’s good to see that director Catherine Hardwicke is headed back to work. I just kind of wish she would dump the whole teenage girl in danger thing.

redriding_articleVariety reports that Hardwicke, who has also directed Thirteen, The Nativity Story and Lords of Dogtown, has signed on to direct The Girl with the Red Riding Hood for Appian Way, Leonardo DiCaprio’s company. The script has been penned by David Johnson and is a gothic retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood story with a teenage love triangle at the center. You know, kinda like New Moon. Chick needs to get over the whole getting bumped for Chris Weitz thing. Lords of Dogtown was awesome. She needs to make more movies about skateboarders and surfers. In the case of Kathryn Bigelow, led to great things.

After how bad Twilight was, is it REALLY good to see her going back to work? Would love to see someone like Mary Harron tackle this material.
