It’s fantastic news that Universal is gearing up to adapt more of Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles. I mean, who doesn’t love Interview with the Vampire?
I guess these novels can go either way, depending on the talent behind and in front of the camera.
As far as a director goes, I think we’ll be left in the dark a bit longer, but Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Iron Man, himself–Robert Downey Jr.–is in talks to take over the role originated by Tom Cruise and bastardized by Stuart Townsend.
I don’t think anyone is sure at this point whether this will be a continuation of the screwed-up continuity of the first couple of films. Maybe it’s best to leave this series of sad-vampire books alone and thank the gods that we at least got Interview out of it.
Still, Downey is pure gold and I’ll watch anything he is in.
