For those of you foaming at the mouth to know Kate Winslet’s post-Oscar course, we got the goods (and so does Jeremy Piven).
Variety reports that Winslet will star in a miniseries adaptation of James M. Cain’s classic novel Mildred Pierce. I haven’t read it, but apparently it involves a housewife who gets into the restaurant business which leads her into an underworld of backstabbing and murder, which will happen you know? No wonder most restaurants fail within the first year.
Todd Haynes, the auteur behind Far From Heaven, Velvet Goldmine and I’m Not There has penned the script and plans to direct it. I hope this will be another one of his psychedelic, hella-cerebral takes on an artifact of pop culture. Winslet seems properly suited to do just about anything, so I think this one could be pretty badass.
