Avatar Day Details! See 16 minutes in IMAX!

A while ago, word hit the web that James Cameron, in an attempt to ratchet up the buzz for his new sci-fi film Avatar even higher than it already is, would release nearly 20 minutes of footage on 3D IMAX screens as an “extended trailer.”

Today, details have been released about the select screenings.  According to the LA Times:

With two screenings on Friday, Aug. 21 (at 6 and 6:30 p.m.), the “Avatar” preview will include an introduction from Cameron and some new footage not shown during July’s Comic-Con International convention in San Diego. ..

Fox is not paying Imax to use its theaters for the preview, though the studio is bearing the cost of producing and distributing the digital prints. Imax will provide 3-D glasses…

In what’s sure to be a mad grab among sci-fi fans, tickets will be given away a first-come, first-served basis on the “Avatar” website (www.avatarmovie.com) at noon PST Monday.

I’m hoping this one will be at my local screen, and will definitely try to nab tickets.  Let the unfettered fanboy anticipation commence!

I really like the Avatar 3D movie, particularly the story line, not solely it brings a completely new sensation but eye opening ideas of humanity. I heard the New Avatar 2 is comming soon, cannot wait to watch it again…!
