If this one didn’t come from the Associated Press, I wouldn’t believe it. But it appears Spielberg is jumping on the remake bandwagon, complete with a giant bunny.
The property in question is Harvey, the 1950 Jimmy Stewart movie about an eccentric who is friends with an imaginary 6-foot-tall bunny rabbit. The original film was based on a play by Mary Chase. According to the AP, this will be Spielberg’s next directing gig after he wraps Tintin.
I’m not down on this remake idea, but what the hell is up with Steven Spielberg? He is attached to a list of projects a mile long, he’s been saying that his Lincoln biopic is going to be his next movie for years, and he always just pops up with projects nobody has ever heard about. I wish the guy would just do a project, release it, and move on to the next one instead of “developing” this seemingly endless slew of properties for years and years.
I won’t be surprised if this one falls away never to be spoken of again. Until Spielberg is actually behind a camera shooting, it’s nearly impossible to know which of his projects will really pan out. But I still really wanna see Liam Neeson as Abraham Lincoln.
