Marc Webb just released his new comedy, 500 Days of Summer into theaters with a surprising amount of fanfare and good word-of-mouth. So what’s next for the director?
Universal and producer Marc Platt are developing a remake of the 1973 hippie rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar which was based on the hit broadway play by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Keep in mind; the deal is anything but set and could fall through at any moment, but Risky Business Blog is reporting that Webb has been in talks with Platt and that the director is very interested in doing the project. File this under “rumor” for the time being.
I really wouldn’t mind seeing another version of one of my favorite rock-operas. I love the original film and think it is superior (musically, at least) to the recent stage revival. The temptation with this property, though, will be to make it overly-hip and modern, but I’m not sure that’s the direction I’d like to see it go. What do you guys and gals think?
