UPDATED WITH TEASER POSTER!! First (very shadowy) pic of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger!

Well, folks, we’ve got our first look at Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger in the new version of A Nightmare on Elm StreetIt’s a darkly lit pic and you can’t really see his face at all, but it’s something, isn’t it?

Frankly, I think it looks pretty cool.  It’s really got the spirit of the flicks (the better ones, anyway) down to a tee, and it’s nice and creepy to boot.

Haley was already a pretty inspired choice for the part.  Maybe this one won’t be too shabby!  Thoughts?

UPDATE!!!  Now we’ve got us a brand spankin’ new poster for the movie and to be honest, I think it looks pretty damn cool!  All this really bodes well.  Platinum Dunes might just have a winner on their hands.  (God knows it’s better than what they did to Jason Vorhees.)

The only thing this tells me is that they are keeping freddy within the scope of what he needs to be, and that the production design will be reminiscent of the originals. So all good news, even though the “non-news” pic does piss me off.

I’m really excited :) I know there’s not a lot to look at in the first pic, but I like it. That’s kind of how Freddy is supposed to be, as in the first one. You don’t really see a lot of his face. The later films give you too much Freddy where it becomes hokey. Fun, but hokey none the less. I’m gonna have to drag Matt out to see this one :)

That teaser poster is super-duper badass. I’m officially optimistic.
