A lot’s been going on with this big-screen adaptation of The Green Hornet–some of it good, some of it bad. But it looks like things are finally starting to get on the right track.
Star/co-writer/co-producer Seth Rogen gave AICN some huge news the other day in terms of where they are in production right now, telling us that sets are already being built and they’re actively pursuing a new Kato to replace Stephen Chow (who was also initially attached to direct).
Today, the plot thickens even more. Variety tells us that Camerons Diaz is in talks to play a love interest and Nicolas Cage might play the baddie (maybe he can find a way to work in his Fu Manchu from Rob Zombie’s fake Grindhouse trailer!).
Michel Gondry is currently set to direct the picture which was co-written by Rogen and his writing partner for both Superbad and Pineapple Express, Evan Goldberg. Between Gondry and David Gordon Green, these guys sure can get some awesome directors to tackle their scripts! And by the sound of it, a pretty interesting cast is coming together as well.
I’m still not 100% sold on this one, but every little bit helps–I’ll pretty much see anything Gondry makes. (Speaking of which, Be Kind Rewind was really pretty good. If you haven’t seen it–and let’s face it, you haven’t–then you really ought to.)
