Orphan Giveaway: Win some Creepy Kid merchandise!

Posted on 19 July 2009 by Quaid

UPDATE: The giveaway is now closed.  Winners will be notified via email.  Thanks to all who participated!

It’s just a fact of life: there’s nothing nearly as creepy as a small child, say eight or nine years old, with an intense, evil look on her face and a penchant for doing some crazily evil acts.

Orphan1shtAnd now Warner Brothers is bringing you Orphan, a movie that promises to take creepy-kid horror to a whole new level, proclaiming simply that “There’s something wrong with Esther.”  The movie will be in theaters July 24.

In celebration of the film’s release, we here at MovieChopShop are bringing you a whole slew of Orphan merchandise including:

1  Jewelry Box with Etched Title Treatment on Mirror (very cool for you collectors)
3 Orphan Prize Packs, including:
…….1 Glow in the Dark Paint w/ writable tip
…….1 Orphan Mug (BPA Free)
…….1 Black Cap
…….1 Next Level Men’s Esther T-shirt
…….1 Next Level Ladies Esther Tank Top

So what do you have to do to win?  It’s simple.  Send me an email telling me your favorite movie involving a creepy kid, and why.  It can be anything, from The Shining to The Ring or even The Exorcist.  As long as some small child freaked you out, you’re in.

In the interest of making my life easy, make the ENTIRE email one short paragraph, and make the subject “ORPHAN GIVEAWAY.”  Please also include whether you’d prefer the jewelry box or a prize pack.  I can’t promise that you’ll get what you most want, but it’s always best to know preferences. Finally (and sorry about this all you international fans), we can only accept entries from within the US.

The contest starts right…NOW!  And will go until 11:59 PM EST next Monday, July 27.  Winners will be chosen at random and at my discretion.

For those of you who want to know more about the film, check out the official site HERE.

Good luck, and be sure to check back often for more news, giveaways, and all-around awesomeness!

OrphanHere’s a little info about Esther and the gang:

The tragic loss of their unborn child has devastated Kate (Vera Farmiga) and John (Peter Sarsgaard), taking a toll on both their marriage and Kate’s fragile psyche as she is plagued by nightmares and haunted by demons from her past.  Struggling to regain some semblance of normalcy in their lives, the couple decides to adopt another child.  At the local orphanage, both John and Kate find themselves strangely drawn to a young girl named Esther (Isabelle Fuhrman).

Almost as soon as they welcome Esther into their home, however, an alarming series of events begins to unfold, leading Kate to believe that there’s something wrong with Esther—this seemingly angelic little girl is not what she appears to be.  Concerned for the safety of her family, Kate tries to get John and others to see past Esther’s sweet facade.  But her warnings go unheeded until it may be too late…for everyone.

“Orphan” is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (“House of Wax”), from a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson and a story by Alex Mace.  The film stars Vera Farmiga (“The Departed”), Peter Sarsgaard (“Elegy”), Isabelle Fuhrman (“Hounddog”), CCH Pounder (TV’s “The Shield”) and Jimmy Bennett (“Star Trek”).
Joel Silver, Susan Downey, Jennifer Davisson Killoran and Leonardo DiCaprio produced the film, with Steve Richards, Don Carmody and Michael Ireland serving as executive producers.  Richard Mirisch, David Barrett and Erik Olsen co-produced.
The behind-the-scenes creative team is led by director of photography Jeff Cutter, production designer Tom Meyer, editor Tim Alverson, costume designer Antoinette Messam, and composer John Ottman.
Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Dark Castle Entertainment, an Appian Way Production, “Orphan.”
Opening nationwide on July 24, 2009, the film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Children of the Corn. I can’t look at a cornfield without thinking of creepy kids with biblical names just waiting to hurt me. The first few are the most bizarre. Couple driving along and look out in the cornfield a strange band of black-clad kids spouting Biblical verses and shedding blood. It’s not even the blood as much as these kids popping out of no where, in a cornfield. And being led by the extreme pale faced one.

This movie, THE shining just scared the life out of me, which is what still happens every time I rent the video for a re-watch. Worth watching for every horror movie fan!
