Is anyone else’s soul dying a little bit because of the thought of Scream 4? Well, it just got a little closer to reality, so die on.
David Arquette recently confirmed with E! Online that he and wife Courtney Cox Arquette have signed on for a further Scream sequel. The next installment will be the start of the second trilogy for the franchise, at least that is what Kevin “I so used to have a career” Williamson likes to think.
Arquette said nothing else except that he hopes Wes Craven will be on board to direct the next one. Craven’s involvement in the project will be dictated by the quality of Williamson’s finished product. Craven directed all three of the previous Scream films and Williamson wrote the first two, opting out on the third and passing the reins to Ring scribe Ehren Kruger. Guy was probably prepping two of the worst movies I’ve ever seen, Teaching Mrs. Tingle (which he wrote and directed) and Cursed (which he wrote and Craven directed).
I don’t feel I need to voice my distaste for this project any further, but seriously, didn’t we say all we needed to say with Scream 3? Must we ruin everyone’s positive memories of 1 and 2 by prolonging the ridiculousness any further?
