Yesterday we reported that the search for an actor to portray Green Lantern had narrowed to three: Justin Timberlake, Ryan Reynolds, and Bradley Cooper. 

Well, friends, according to Variety, after months and months of speculation a decision has been reached.  Ryan Reynolds will be the Green Lantern in the upcoming movie.

Reynolds was last seen a couple months ago in X-Men Origins: Wolverine as Deadpool, who is supposedly being given his very own spin-off movie–which gives Reynolds quite the full plate of comic book films.

I think Reynolds is an alright choice, although he may have to reign in his smartassness a tad bit on this one if he wants to be taken seriously as a major action star.

Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) is directing the movie, and production is expected to begin in January.
