For anyone who doesn’t know, the one-named Terminator: Salvation director McG is developing a 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ”reimagining.” And the mad movie maker’s found a writer.
Randall Wallace will be rewriting the script for the movie, currently titled Captain Nemo: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea–a title that continues Hollywood’s obsession with unnecessarily long and colon-ized titles.
Wallace’s credits include We Were Soldiers and Pearl Harbor. Hmmm.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this won’t be a straight reboot, exactly. Instead, it will aim to tell the story of Captain Nemo’s origins as well as the origins of the Nautilus.
I’d really like to make fun of this idea, but in a month in which Hollywood has decided to develop a plastic Viewfinder toy into a feature-length movie, this actually sounds somewhat original. God help us all.
