Patton Oswalt in a drama?? Big Fan trailer from the writer of The Wrestler

I’m not much of a fan of stand-up comedy as an art-form (or whatever you’d call it), but one guy that I’ve always thought was really funny is Patton Oswalt.  If you’re unfamiliar with his stand-up, then you’ll know him as the voice of the lead rat in Pixar’s Ratatouille

See?  Funny dude.  Well now he’s headlining a dark-ass drama written and directed by Robert D. Siegel, who supplied the script for Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler.

It looks like it may be a pretty solid character drama, but it looks pretty damn depressing to boot.  The trailer is right below, should you desire to check out the surprisingly solid acting chops of Mr. Oswalt in action.  The film opens in limited release on August 28.

This is a tone I wasn’t expecting for this movie…and it’s fascinating. Looks like it might be dealing with some complex, interesting characters. I’m in.
