And here I thought Aronofsky was getting ready to start doing that Robocop reboot. As it turns out he’s preparing a film entitled Black Swan, and Natalie Portman is set to star.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is a supernatural thriller set against the backdrop of ballet. It started in development at Universal in 2007 and now it’s being shopped around to various distributors. Having Portman on board should give it a nice boost.
It sounds pretty cool, to be honest. Between stuff like this, The Fountain, and The Wrestler, Aronofsky is really shaping up to have a very eclectic filmography.
But is it just me or does the ballet-set supernatural thriller aspect sound a whole lot like a certain movie by the name of Suspiria? Maybe a movie this similar in concept to Suspiria, will help prevent that movie from being remade in the near-future. Although, IMDB lists a Suspiria remake that’s set for 2010, but there currently appears to be no one officially involved with it.
Who knows? Maybe this is it and I’m just being blind? I wouldn’t put it past me.

Anything involving Aronofsky has me sold already. Man is my generation’s Kubrick.

A great story. It’s my life in a nutshell. And oh yeah, I love Nathalie Portman. She is a dick.
