Hans here with casting details on the latest Spider-Man project.
For all of you out there violently anticipating the next Spidey adventure after the cinematic abortion that was Spider-Man 3, you can rest easy in the knowledge that its endless suckiness didn’t not draw away Kirsten Dunst. Spider-Man producer Todd Black told the New York Post that Dunst is definitely on board to play Mary Jane Watson. Last month, Sam Raimi wasn’t sure if he could draw the star back. But I guess a barrell of cash is enough to lure anyone back for more punishment.
Latino Review also reported that, despite online rumors, it doesn’t look there will be a wedding in the fourth film between Mary Jane and Peter Parker. Black had no knowledge of such an intention when he spoke to the Post. That upsets me a bit. A wedding adds a degree of closure to the proceedings, but I guess closure is something that the Spider-Man producers have absolutely no interest in right now (and based on the ass each movie kicks at the box office, I don’t blame them, except for the fact that Spider-Man 3 was so bad).
I wish there a rule that if a movie you make is as bad as Spider-Man 3, the franchise is then legally obligated to die.
