Hey friens, Shep here with a little bit more news on the upcoming long-awaited third Ghostbusters movie. It seems like Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis are the only ones talking about it. Maybe it’s just going on in their heads.
Aykroyd recently spoke with Hero Complex about the movie, which is being scripted by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky (the writers of Ramis’s not-so-great-looking Year One). He says things could blow up “at any second” and may even start shooting in December. So that’s some exciting, if not definite, news.
He also tells us that including the original crew–him, Ramis, Bill Murray, and Ernie Hudson–Sigourney Weaver is also on board, which makes me very happy! No news yet on my beloved Rick Moranis, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
And while we already knew that the format would involve the original gang mentoring a new generation of Ghostbusters, Aykroyd lets it drop that he wants a couple of female members in there, too. When asked for names, he mentioned Alyssa Milano and Eliza Dushku, which frankly sounds like it could really work. Really, as long as it isn’t Miley Cyrus, then I’m good.
But having a young co-ed group had better not turn the whole damn thing into Dawson’s Creek with Proton Packs.
