Great news! The Road will open on October 16!!

The much-anticipated adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s stellar novel The Road has finally secured a release date, after being pushed back all the way to limbo.

According to SlashFilm, Dimension Films and 2929 Productions have announced that the movie will finally be released on October 16road1-440x292 of this year, which is good news considering that it’s a solid spot for Oscar consideration. Which means that maybe there’s some faith in the film, after all!

Following the path of The Road has been a bit cumbersome over the past several months. It was originally scheduled to come out in November of last year and then supposedly got pushed back all the way to the spring after a couple of lackluster test screenings.

I have faith in this project though. Director John Hillcoat proved with his incredible (and very Blood¬†Meridian-esque)¬†film The Proposition that he’s the perfect man for the job when it comes to McCarthy and I fully believe that he can deliver an amazing film! And the sampling of Nick Cave’s score for the film that we got a couple months back was absolutely wonderful as well. The late-year release date gets me all the more jazzed!

Maybe soon we’ll finally get to see a trailer for the film? I can’t wait!!
