It seems that X-Men Origins: Wolverine has managed a pretty sexy-looking $34.75 million in cash for its opening day.
According to Big Hollywood, the film has had quite the successful start to its weekend and is looking to round up somewhere in the range of $86 million total for the weekend. It’s nothing record-breaking, but it’ll certainly do the trick.
It’s only a little bit shy of the starter to last summer, Iron Man, which took in $35.2 on its opening day…but I wouldn’t count on this making nearly the amount of money that one did, as word of mouth won’t produce the best staying power for Wolverine. Come Star Trek next week, no one will even remember who the hell this Wolverine character is.
In the grand spectrum of comic book films, it has the 7th biggest Friday ever, just below Spider-Man and Iron Man and just above X2, 300, and Watchmen.
