Inglourious Basterds is a long damn movie!

So I got a little upset when I heard that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was going to be a full 147 minutes long, but I like what I hear regarding the massive runtime of Quentin Tarantino’s new film.

That’s right, friends, according to the official website of the Cannes Film Festival–inglourious-basterds-posterwhere Inglourious Basterds will be playing in competition–the film is listed as a full 160 minutes (or two hours and forty minutes) long.

I guess this isn’t really much of a surprise, as Tarantino has a bit of a habit for making really long movies. Reservoir Dogs is pretty taut at 99 minutes, but both Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown exceed the 150-minute mark and Kill Bill¬†was so long that it had to be split up into two movies.

Anyway, I always like to hear that big pompous movies anticipated by artsy crowds have really long runtimes. I think I have a runtime fetish or something. When I heard that David Lynch’s Inland Empire was three hours long, I about lost my mind (in a good way).

Suffice it to say, I’m still looking forward to this one!

Sometimes a long flick can seem daunting, but Tarantino’s I never want to end. The longer Inglorious Basterds is, the more I’m intrigued.
