It feels like we’ve been hearing about this movie for years. Actually, I guess we have. James Cameron’s non-documentary feature film follow-up to Titanic has more hype around it than almost anything else coming out of Hollywood. Based on what we’re hearing about the 3D, effects, story and scope, it’s easy to understand why.
And other than one or two pictures that came out a few months back, this is the first crop of set pics that have come out of the production. Empire magazine has them, and they’ve been scanned and re-blogged at Market Saw.
I know these don’t show much of what the finished film will be, but I just love to watch the filmmakers work. If you look closely, you can see the “two monitor system” that camera is using. One monitor shows the actors on green, and the other gives a quick, fairly sophisticated comp of what they will look like when placed in the digital environment. Neat-o!
I really think this movie is going to be something special. Hopefully it will 100% have its own identity, but still remind us of how great James “Aliens and Terminator 2” Cameron can be at putting together a huge sci-fi spectacle with a few brains.
Here are the pics. Go to the source for a few more.
