I really didn’t want to report this. I put it off as long as I could. With all the recent drama about the Eclipse movie, this feels like old news even though it isn’t.
It’s been a roller-coaster ride, waiting to see who will direct the third movie of the Twilight saga. First we heard Drew Barrymore, then it was Juan Antonio Bayona. Now we finally have the director set, complete with press release and on-the-record sources.
The director of Eclipse will be David Slade of 30 Days of Night fame.
Actually…cool. Getting a person who has tackled the vampire franchise before, in a totally different way, might be kind of interesting. While I was NOT (repeat…NOT) a fan of the first movie (though I did enjoy it somewhat on a dumb fun romance level), I will be seeing the second and third films based solely on the talent they have behind the camera.
Even a pubescent vampire saga can be good if it’s handled appropriately and the correct things are accented. It takes a good director to keep it from being rambling and cheesy.
Oh…and a good writer. Unfortunately they’re sticking with Melissa Rosenberg for the second movie.
Anyway, for those of you who care, there it is. Would be nice if this franchise got good. I want to be in on all the fun.
