And the winner is….Nancy Wimpsett, who couldn’t stand Mamma Mia the movie after seeing the musical onstage. Thanks for all who entered!
We here at MovieChopShop have come across some fine goodies in celebration of Sony Pictures Classics’ release of their Broadway documentary Every Little Step, and we thought we’d pass the booty along.
For those of you who don’t know, Every Little Step explores the journey of “A Chorus Line,” one of the world’s most popular musicals, as it is revived on Broadway. Not only does the film explore the history of the musical, but it also documents the lengthy audition process of the revival as thousands of dancers compete for one of only nineteen spots available.
The movie is now playing in New York and LA. Look for it in other cities very soon.
In celebration of the film’s release, we have a prize pack extravaganza of goodies to hand out. There is an original “A Chorus Line” soundtrack, a soundtrack of the new revival of “A Chorus Line,” and a spiffy poster for the film…which looks…like this…
What do you have to do to win? We’ll keep this simple.
We all know that musicals can be magical. They can whisk you away to another time and place. They can also be atrocious, making you want to claw out not only your eyes, but also your ears. And when it comes to film adaptations, even great musicals can be butchered in horrible ways.
So which musical film (adaptation or otherwise) most made you want to claw your eyes out?
Send an email to me, Quaid@moviechopshop.com, with your answer. The subject should be “EVERY LITTLE STEP CONTEST.” In addition, let me know why this one specific movie made you suicidal. Keep it brief. Unfortunately, we’re only able to ship to locations in the US for this one, so enter only if you live in the US or have a US address we can ship to. My sincerest apologies to all our readers overseas.
Entries will be judged based on reasoning and their ability to entertain me, not on whether I agree with the choices.
Contest starts NOW and will be over at 5:00PM EST this Sunday, April 26. Any late entries will not be considered.
Have fun with this one, and good luck.
And those of you looking for your weekly overlooked movie fix, have no fear. Hans will be back with his weekly “Below Radar” column first thing tomorrow morning.
Here’s a trailer for Every Little Step…
