Hi all, Quaid here with some news about the status of our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
Raimi wants her back, and according to an interview with the director, she might be a little more open to the option than originally thought. He says:
“I’m hoping that she is going to come aboard, and I’ve got a meeting coming up with her. I think she would like to. But I don’t want to speak on behalf of her.”
Check out Sci-Fi Wire for more details, including some lackluster comments about the tone of the new movie.
But now for the REAL news (kinda). In a Forbes interview with Sony heads Amy Pascal and Michael Mynton, Pascal implied the possibility of Spider-Man 4 being in 3D. Here is an excerpt:
“Interviewer: Are you considering doing any live action movies in 3-D? What about Spider-Man 4?
Pascal: Could be.
Lynton: People are paying a premium to see movies in 3-D and that’s a very big deal. It’s never been done before that someone says you have to pay more to see Spider-Man than a romantic comedy.”
Far from definitive, but doing all major tentpoles in 3D is becoming a no-brainer for studios with the recent resurgence of the format. It’s a cool idea, seeing the webslinger fly around in a 3D environment.
I just hope it’s better than the absysmally disappointing and uneven Spider-Man 3 (so bad).
