Quaid here. I’ll keep this brief. We’ve done three or four stories on how Rob Zombie is totally doing his own thing with his version of Halloween 2, but I figured we could do one more update. This time, it comes straight from the horse’s mouth.
Rob Zombie, in a video on MTV’s Website, says:
“This one is 100% mine. It’s like nothing…I mean, every day we laugh about how different it is. We don’t even think about “Halloween” at all. We just do what we do.”

Well, there you have it, 100% reliable. Rob Zombie has hijacked the Halloween franchise. Love it or hate it, it will not be anything like the Halloween 2 we know.
Now, Shep and I have been in a bit of a spat over whether this is a horrible thing. What if the movie is good, but it’s just totally different in tone and changes the character of Michael Myers radically? Well, then, I would say don’t use the Halloween brand to market your movie. Don’t skate to good box-office numbers based on the preconceived notions of the fanbase. Let your movie live or die on its own terms.
I started out down on this movie. Then I saw the new mask and Laurie covered in blood, and I started to come around. Now I’m not sure what to think of the possible quality of the film, but I know it will not be Halloween as I know and love. And as an intense Halloween fan, that makes me sad.
I’m trying to stay civil. If you want to see the rant from yesterday, click HERE.
The good news is we might know more what to expect come friday when the trailer for the new movie hits the internet. Stay tuned.
