Casting: Jena Malone in Suckerpunch, Adam Scott heads Piranha 3D

I have had a thing for Jena Malone since Donnie Darko.  And when she starred in Saved, my path to the dark side was complete.

jenamaloneSo it’s a pleasant surprise that the oh-so-cute-with-an-edge girl has found a home in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen follow-up, Suckerpunch.  The “Alice in Wonderland in a mental institution with guns” film features an all female cast including Vanessa Hudgens and Abbie Cornish.

Jamie Chung has also joined the gang today.

Okay, this could be really badass, hot, and badass.  And it could be badass.  I hope Snyder has something fun in store for us.

In other news, Moviehole reports that Adam Scott, known mostly for comedic roles in films like Step Brothers and Knocked Up, has joined Alex Aja’s remake of Piranha 3D.  The original film was directed by Joe Dante and featured piranhas…killing people.  We’re all holding our breath that the remake will follow that proven formula.

But this time, it’s going to be in 3D.  Which, when you think about it, is really weird.  Will there be a bunch of underwater photography?  How will they do the obligatory “poke you in the eye” gags with a mass of fish as the villains?  I honestly can’t wait to see.
