Ray Winstone, David Thewlis, and Anna Friel have signed on to take part in the directorial debut of William Monahan, titled London Boulevard.
According to Variety, the film, which already stars Colin Farrell and Keira Knightley, is about “a recently paroled London criminal who becomes involved with a reclusive young actress.”
Personally, I couldn’t be more excited about all of this. For Farrell, it sounds like a role in the same ballpark as In Bruges, which I absolutely loved, and Winstone and Thewlis are without a doubt great additions to a film like this.
For those whose memories need a little jogging, Monahan is the Oscar-winning screenwriter of The Departed, Winstone played Beowulf in Beowulf as well as Mr. French in The Departed (and also assumed the lead in an outstanding film from a few years called The Proposition), and Thewlis played Professor Lupin in the two Harry Potter films thus far where the character has shown up.
Friel’s work I’m unfamiliar with, but IMDB tells me she was in Timeline so…yeah.
