Hannah Montana: The Movie was number one at the box-office this weekend. Let me say that again…Hannah Montana has conquered Hollywood with an opening weekend of $34 million.
In second place was last week’s record breaker Fast and Furious. The Vin Diesel action pic pulled in $28.8 million, a steep (but expected) 59% drop for the movie. Don’t feel bad for Universal; they’re still sitting pretty with this one.
Warner Bros., on the other hand, might be a little sad right now. After the disappointing theatrical run of Watchmen, the studio is looking at another less than stellar opening for their new Seth Rogen vehicle, Observe and Report, which pulled in $11.1million, debuting at number four.
Dragonball: Evolution opened at number eight with $4.7 million. It will soon be forgotten by everyone, most especially Fox.
Let’s fill in the gaps, shall we? We have Knowing at number five with $6.7 million, I Love You, Man at six with $6.4 million, and The Haunting in Connecticut at number seven with $5.7 million.
Rounding out the top ten were Adventureland with $3.4 million, and Duplicity with $3 million.
I’d really like to see Adventureland grow some legs, but it looks like it ain’t gonna happen. Ah well, I think the movie will have a very successful life on video.
