Al Pacino is set to play French Emperor Napoleon in an adaptation of Staton Rabin’s children’s book “Betsy and the Emperor.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pacino has been interested for a long time in playing Napoleon. I’m not sure that an adaptation of a children’s book is quite the capacity that he was imagining him in, but maybe he’s getting desperate at this point.
John Curran, director of The Painted Veil will be directing from a script by Brian Edgar.
The book tells the story of a girl who lives on the island of St. Helena, where Napoleon went into exile after his capture at Waterloo. There she meets Napoleon and strikes up a (quite unlikely) friendship with him.
Sound kinda interesting.
