UPDATE: JoBlo is reporting that Oldman’s manager is denying this, so file under rumor.

Here is the original story…

After the news that Garry Shandling has a role in the currently-shooting sequel Iron Man 2, it seems they’ve made another addition to the cast in Gary Oldman.

According to IESB.net, Oldman, who has already starred as Lt./Commissioner

garyoldmanGordon in both of Christopher Nolan’s recent Batman movies, was spotted on the Los Angeles set for the film.

There isn’t any confirmation at this time as to who his character is, although there is speculation that he may be playing Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey, Jr.) father, Howard Stark. This role was previously rumored to be going to either Tim Robbins or Mad Men‘s John Slattery, so Oldman may be playing a different part.

This movie is starting to get a really huge and really awesome cast! I guess its massive success last summer is really paying off for it. I sure hope the sequel delivers the goods.

But the real question is this: Does Gary Oldman have what it takes to handle the DC Comics to Marvel Comics crossover?? Will he be able to handle the worldwide fury that will erupt over such a thing?? Is he really that awesome??

Yes. Yes he is.
