Quaid here with a couple of new in-development projects to put on your radar screen…
First off, Simon Pegg is busy. He’s in Star Trek and about a billion (no hyperbole here) other movies. But what we all really want is another team-up of Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright again. They’re two for two with Hott Fuzz and, my personal favorite, Shaun of the Dead.
Seems the trio is hard at work on starting what they are calling the third part of the “Ice Cream Trilogy,” a movie they call The World’s End. EW has the story in which Pegg says:
“If Shaun of the Dead was about leaving your 30s and taking responsibility, and Hot Fuzz was about being a man, then the next one will be about being an old man. Being fucking 40, which I am approaching. Edgar isn’t, the little bastard.”
I don’t care. Any time you get these guys working together, I’m buying a ticket.
Now on to the “WTF” piece of news. David Cronenberg is working on an idea for a sequel to the 2007 film Eastern Promises. It’s early in the game, but it seems Croneberg is optimistic about getting Viggo Mortensen back.
Here’s a quote for you, pulled from CHUD…
“It’s the first time I’ve ever been in a situation where I actually want to do a sequel to something…But in this case, I thought we had unfinished business with those characters. I didn’t feel that we had finished with Nikolai and we had done a lot of research that was more than we could stuff into that one movie.”
All right, Dave. I Digg. Show me what you got.
