Hi, all, Quaid here with a bunch of updates on casting…and the lack thereof.
So, everyone is in Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables, right? Not so much. Seems Sly extended an invitation to one Mr. Kurt “Jack Burton” Russell and was TOTALLY shut down by the man’s agent. The reason given? Kurt is not interested in “ensemble acting” at this time. The good news is he remains available for Vanilla Sky 2: Still Frozen.
Also on the casting “FAIL!” front, it seems Amanda Seyfried is off of Zack Snyder’s Suckerpunch. EW reports that the actress has had to drop out of the project, described as “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns,” because of “scheduling conflicts.” AKA Watchmen wasn’t as successful as everyone thought it would be (yes, that’s pure speculation on my part). It’s a shame. She looks like an older, hotter version of Alice, too.
Brian “Brick” White is set for not one, but two upcoming roles. The Stomp the Yard actor will be in Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All by Myself (a Tyler Perry film, written and directed by Tyler Perry) as well as the Joss Whedon horror flick Cabin in the Woods (which is going to have Brad Whitford as an evil baddie. I’m starting the early Oscar buzz right now).
Finally, it looks like Anne Hathaway is going to be walking down the yellow brick road, portraying Judy Garland in a film adaptation of Gerald Clarke’s biography “Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland.” The Weinsteins are producing the project.
And Crispin Glover has been cast as the Green Lantern (just kidding).
