Wanna see the new Paul McCartney and John Lennon? The Weinsteins show us!

Posted on 18 March 2009 by Quaid

So, as you may or may not know, the Weinstein Company has picked up North American rights to Nowhere Boy, a story about John Lennon’s early days.  Well, it seems the film is casting, and we know who will be playing the two most important  (sorry, it’s a fact Ringo lovers) Beatles.

First up, for John Lenon, we get Aaron Johnson whose work I am unfamiliar with.  Thomas Sangster will play McCartney.  You may remember this kid from a little movie called Love Actually where he played Liam Neeson’s son (quite brilliantly, I might add).

Sam Taylor Wood is directing a screenplay by Matt Greenhalgh.  Click below to see our young men, soon to be superstar Beatles.  Do they fit the part?

Why did they get such an ugly Paul Mccartney for. Paul was the cute one. This guy looks like an elf.

Hello….. Thomas Sangster is such a cute guy….. He is such a good actor too, so he is born to play Paul Mccartney.
ave you seen Entrusted, Nanny Mcphee, The Last Legion ore Love actually???
He was the BEST ACTOR THERE, even if Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Keira knightly, Rowan Atkinson and Hugh Grant Played in those films too…
And just as you now THOMAS SANGSTER IS NOT UGLY!!!!!

I’m a huge Lennon & McCartney fan and I looking forward to this as much as I am looking forward to the Jade Goody musical or a lump on the nuts!
Y’know they’re gonna play into the stereotype roles and a paint-by-numbers biopic like the rest of the ones that have been made.
If you want a good history of the early Beatles story watch The Anthology, and if you want insight into John Lennon watch “Gimme Some Truth” or “The U.S Vs John Lennon”. Not to mention that there are a vast amount of books available, official and unofficial.
But personally I prefer to listen to the music because any movie made will gloss-over, sex-up, and over-do the truth of what happened…and to which none of know the truth, we can only surmise!
Oh and by the way, these to imps look nothing like Lennon & McCartney.

Wow, Lennon’s guy is a little too good looking for John and the Paul guy is way too unattractive and doesn’t look anything like him. Paul had a long face and huge eyes and this guy has a pin head and well I won’t say too much more because it wouldn’t be nice. I don’t expect identical twins, but you really shouldn’t have a really unattractive guy play a heartthrob it’s just unbelievable. Oh well another bad Beatle movie coming up.

How can you say Thomas Sangster is ugly?! I’m not sure how much he looks like Paul, but motherfucker he is cute.

Actually, the casting is perfect. If you were alive in 1964 and were old enough to see the live broadcasts of Ed Sullivan, you would remember how they actually did look. Paul had broad nostrils, black hair, and a elfin face. Lennon was truly leading man handsome. I don’t know what happened. Perhaps a lot of partying finally took it’s toll.

  10. Katy Says:

Aaron Johnson played Robbie in ANGUS THONGS AND FULL-FRONTAL THONGS!

  11. Luna Says:

Please, the Ed Sullivan tape is available everywhere, even in Youtube. Paul has NEVER had “broad nostrils” He looked gorgeous even then, the best looking Beatle by a mile.

Well, hey, luckily these people will see the movie regardless. They look great in their roles, and Thomas Sangster is an amazing actor, and not just for his age. Aaron Johnson is fantastic as John Lennon, and there are moments that, if paused, it looks like a picture of John when he was younger.
