I’m not a big MacGyver fan, but who doesn’t love some popsicle stick and rubber-band bomb making every once in a while? It seems we might finally get our fix soon.
“MacGyver,” the 80′s small-screen extravaganza of scientific every-day ridiculousness is coming to the big screen. The movie is being produced by Raffaella De Laurentiis, daughter of Dino De Laurentiis. They don’t have a script, or, it seems, a solid idea. But the movie is on its way to getting made and they are looking for material right now.
But what is the tone going to be? Surely not serious. Maybe something along the lines of the Starsky and Hutch movie? Well, according to this press release they are walking the line with this one.
“…the studio hopes to find a script that can acknowledge how the concept has staked a place into pop culture yet still makes for a serious and fun adventure movie.”
I’m not sure that is possible. Me, I think they need to go crazy camp if they want any chance of making this work. With lots of dark moments and ridiculous science.
Just bring back Richard Dean Anderson and have him grab his back and constantly say “I’m getting too old for this shit!”
