This has been an annoying roller-coaster ride of Oscar positioning from the beginning, but according to Deadline Hollywood Daily, Mickey Rourke has signed on to play a villain in the Jon Favreau directed Iron Man 2.
The drama started when Marvel apparently offered Rourke an “insulting” sum of $250,000 — also known as what most Americans strive to make in a year (or two, or eight). I know, I know, Rourke is worth more than that and is bringing a lot to the table. This is not the article to rail on the excess of Hollywood…
Anyway, Rourke and his agent rejected the offer. The Oscars were heating up and many suggested that Rourke was waiting to see if he got the big “W” before deciding how to proceed in negotiations.
Well, Mickey lost, but it seems his agent, David Unger, was able to talk some sense into Marvel and secure a better deal.
All we know about who he will be playing is that it is allegedly “a Russian villain.” Hmmm…let the speculation begin!
