It’s no surprise that a little over a week after British director Danny Boyle won an Oscar for Slumdog Millionaire, everyone everywhere wants to get their hands on this guy. But there’s a rumor of one particularly interesting offer…
According to The Sun, it seems as though James Bond frachise head Barbara Broccoli (the most un-Bond name I’ve ever heard in my life) at EON Productions wants Boyle to direct what would be the 23rd 007 picture, following last fall’s disappointing Quantum of Solace.
“A source” says that Boyle “has been offered the chance to direct the…film by Barbara. The EON team love his vision and think that it would be great for the new look of Bond.”
Can’t say I disagree. Bringing in Boyle sounds like a terrific idea and I’d be extremely excited to see what he does with the franchise. I’m sure he can save it from the massive nosedive that it just took after the spectacular Casino Royale.
UPDATE: Danny Boyle has denied such claims, including one that he will direct a remake of Chan-wook Park’s Lady Vengeance. Which also would have been cool. But I’m also fine with leaving Lady Vengeance alone. Which I guess is asking for too much.
