Quaid here. The guys over at AICN have come across some interesting inside information regarding the Tron sequel. Apparently it takes place 25 years in the future and involves Jeff Bridges’ character, now a successful game developer, disappearing without a trace.
His son is left to search for his father. When he’s 20-something, he stumbles on his father’s old moth-eaten arcade where he is pulled into the machine and must fight a corrupt version of his father…possibly with his real (digitized) father lending aid?
You can see all the details at AICN.
This actually sounds somewhat interesting. I loved the teaser clip that premiered a few months back; it feels very classic Tron but also updated to reflect the fact that computers are no longer sci-tech cool 80′s magic boxes.
I’m eagerly anticipating seeing some more footage from this, but it doesn’t come out until 2012…I might be waiting a while.
Here’s the terrible quality YouTube trailer shot at last year’s Comic Con.
