Hi, all Quaid here with a few juicy tidbits of news exploding from WonderCon this weekend.
First off, McG and his oddly-named cronies premiered new footage from Terminator: Salvation. It will hopefully hit the net in the next few days. You can find a description of the footage over at AICN.
Also, it seems there is a bit of a ratings dispute with the film. McG is aiming for a “moderate R,” while it seems the studio might now want to see about getting a PG-13. Therefore they are pushing for McG to cut out a scene which involves actress Moon Bloodgood (yes…that’s her name) going topless.
Now, I am all for some tasteful nudity in a film. But, to be honest, if one topless shot is all that is making this Terminator movie (about A WAR WITH MACHINES IN THE FUTURE!) an R-Rated film, then I’m afraid something is screwed up anyway. Think of how hardcore Terminator 2 was, and without nudity.
Another bit of Terminator news…seems McG is still trying to get Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger onboard in some capacity. Most likely voice-over and some kind of background cameo.
Second up, a new Star Trek trailer premiered. It’s supposed to be online soon and will be attached to prints of Watchmen this friday. I hope we get copies on digital prints, as well.
Also, J.J. Abrams was asked about the progress on the sequel to Cloverfield. His response, recorded by Coming Soon, was as follows:
“We’re actually working on an idea right now. We have an idea that we thought was pretty cool that we’re playing with, which means there will be something that’s connected to Cloverfield, but I hope it happens sooner than later because the idea is pretty sweet.”
Can’t say I’m terribly excited about this, but I know there are those out there who loved that little film.
That’s all for now. Quaid out.
