Quaid here, with our first look at Judd Apatow’s newest movie, Funny People.
When I heard that Adam Sandler was in this, I was skeptical but hopeful. So far, we haven’t seen a performance that is somewhere in-between his “serious” and “goofy man-child” personas. It always ends up skewing one way or the other.
That being said, it looks like Apatow might have managed to give us a realistic, honest and funny Sandler. Count me excited.
The trailer gives a lot of plot away, but it’s an Apatow movie so you know it’s all about the moments, not necessarily the overall story. Enjoy.

That is by far the longest trailer for a comedy I have ever seen. That trailer is like a movie unto itself. I feel like I should have paid to see that because I saw so much of the movie.
I think it looks good though. It shows Judd Apatow continuing to build on his past success while making heavy strides toward being the James L. Brooks of our comedic moment. I look forward to seeing it, but the cryptic “coming soon” never helps in letting me know when I will be able to.

I think it looks interesting…the stuff with Leslie Mann looks like it could be really good, especially. I’m looking forward to see something a little different from him, but with the same heart.
