Quaid here, with some fascinating news about our favorite Mutt and robot-fighting heartthrob, Shia LeBeouf. Seems the kid’s landed his next role, starring in John Grisham’s first foray into the legal thriller genre since…well, his last book. ”The Associate” (not to be confused with “The Client” or “The Rainmaker”) is about a law student (Mr. LeBeouf) getting hired by a firm (but not “THE Firm”) to handle a multi-billion-dollar lawsuit. Hilarity, no doubt, ensues.
Now I know I joke a lot, but I really do enjoy me some well-done John Grisham novels turned films. The Rainmaker is a blast, and The Client is a great example of a legal thriller done well. Add to that the fact that I have been a Shia fan for a long while (I was a Project Greenlight fanatic), and I am truly interested and hopeful for this film.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing, and William Monahan (who wrote the amazing The Departed) is writing.
