Christopher Nolan Returns, Helms New Sci-Fi action flick for Warner

Posted on 11 February 2009 by ShepRamsey

Inception is to be the new film from the ever-wonderful Christopher Nolan, hot off of the enormous success he had with his brilliant The Dark Knight last summer. The movie is described by Warner Bros. as “a contemporary sc-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.” Sounds sexy!

Frankly, I’m quite excited. As much as I’d love to hear that Nolan’s next movie will be our third trip into the Batman universe, I’m always up for a talented writer/director tackling some smart, contemplative sci-fi. My first thoughts zoomed to something along the lines of Andrei Tarkovsky’s Solaris or Stalker, although the word “actioner” sort of kills that hope for me. But, if Dark Knight is any indication, we can rest assured that Nolan will deliver the action in sparse doses and will serve it up like a pro. Who knows, maybe he’s giving us the next Videodrome! Heh. Awesome.

Filming is supposed to begin in the summer of 2010, aiming for a release in 2011, so I’m not sure what that says for the possibility of a new Batman movie hitting us sometime in the near future, although it doesn’t sound promising. Oh well, Nolan has time and again proven himself a great filmmaker and I’ll look forward to anything he puts out. Rock on, sir! Rock on.
